Product Care Guide

Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of 1bike1world merchandise! We want to make sure your new gear doesn’t just look good on day one, but keeps up with you for the long haul. With a little TLC, your product will stay in top shape and last as long as humanly (and cat-ly) possible.

Think of it like a good adventure buddy. Wash it kindly, dry it gently, and don’t let it get lost at the bottom of the laundry pile for weeks on end. Treat it well, and it’ll be right there with you through every road trip, coffee stop, and catnap in between.

If your item has a label, give it a glance, those instructions are made just for that product. When it’s time for the wash, turn your tee inside out. It’s a simple trick that minimises the fade, helps shield the artwork and keeps the print from fading or cracking, so it’ll stay looking sharp through many adventures.

Cold water is your best friend here, ideally no more than 30°C. Not only does it preserve colours and minimise shrinkage, but it’s a win for the planet too. In fact, switching from 40°C to 30°C can cut your CO₂ footprint by up to 35%, and dropping to 20°C saves more than 60% energy. That’s a lot of good for such a small change.

If you’ve picked up a stubborn stain along the way, treat it with a stain remover before washing, but avoid bleach and strong detergents, they’re too harsh on both fabric and print. A liquid detergent will do a far better job than powder, especially on stains.

When it comes to drying, your merch much prefers the fresh-air treatment. Tumble drying on high heat speeds up ageing, fading, and cracking, even if it is technically allowed. Hang it up inside out, away from direct sunlight, and it’ll dry naturally, last longer, and smell fresher too.

There is no need to iron your t-shirt, however if you really must, do it inside out on the lowest setting, or place a tea towel over the print to avoid smudging. And here’s a top tip: don’t overload your washing machine. Your clothes will come out cleaner, fresher, and a whole lot less crinkly.

Our handmade hats and blankets are crafted with love by my sister and my mum, so they deserve a little extra love in return. Treat them kindly and they’ll stay soft, cozy, and beautiful for years to come.

Please hand wash your blankets and hats in cool water, no hotter than 30°C. This gentle temperature helps preserve colours and minimise shrinkage, while keeping the fibres soft and strong. If life happens and you pick up a stubborn stain, treat it with a little stain remover before washing. Just avoid bleach and strong detergents — they’re far too harsh for delicate handmade items. A liquid detergent is the best choice, as it’s kinder and usually much better at shifting marks than powder.

When it comes to drying, lay the blanket or the hat flat on a clean towel and reshape it as it dries. This prevents stretching and helps it hold its shape and size beautifully. Tumble dryers, on the other hand, are a bit of a villain here, they use huge amounts of energy and the high heat can weaken fibres, shrink natural materials, and make colours fade faster. If you can, skip the tumble dryer altogether for the sake of both your blanket and the planet. But if you absolutely must, tumble dry with no heat only.

And since you will be drying your hats and blankets on a flat surface there is no need for ironing, that’s the real beauty of being eco friendly! That doesn’t mean you’re forbidden to iron them, but just like with tumble dryers, please stick to the lowest heat settings if you must.

With just a little care, your handmade blanket or hat will stay as soft and comforting as the day it was made, ready to keep you warm through many adventures, cups of tea, and cozy evenings.

Tips for washing at lower temperatures

If you can’t find a 30°C or 20°C program on your washing machine, you may be able to manually reduce the temperature of a 40°C wash using the temperature button.
Switching to a liquid will help shift stains. We found that tough stains lifted more easily with a liquid than a powder at 30°C and 20°C.
Pre-treat tough stains with a drop of diluted detergent for the best chance at removing them.
